Level access is available from 112 Murray Street via the black and white laneway leading to the Garden. There is one accessible toilet. Please contact us via info@altarhobart.com.au prior to the show day or speak to the front-of-house or security staff.
High Altar is not accessible by wheelchair at this time.
Seating/Standing
Altar operates as a general admission standing venue. Some bar stools and high tables are available. Any available seating will be offered on a first come, first served basis. We suggest that you arrive early to enjoy a drink before the performance, enjoy the support acts and make a full night of it.
Food + Drink
Outside food and drink is not permitted in Altar. We offer a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages with a Tasmanian focus from our venue bars. Looking for a bite to eat before the show? Drop into In The Hanging Garden before the show for a range of high-quality food + drink options.
Ticketing Information
Moshtix is the official ticket seller and reseller for all shows at Altar. Tickets purchased from an unofficial reseller or through an online marketplace cannot be guaranteed as valid tickets and you may be denied entry into the event. You can access your ticket online by logging into your Moshtix account where you can manage, download or resell your ticket.
Do you accept cash?
Altar is a completely cashless venue. There is no cash kept on the premises.
Conditions of entry
Altar is committed to safe and positive spaces where all people are welcome and respected. Our policy on anti-social behavior is strictly enforced and applies to all individuals, including patrons, performers, promoters, staff and security. If you experience or see something that doesn't look right, please report it to one of our friendly staff.
Valid ID must be shown upon entry to the venue even if you have a pre-purchased ticket.
The right of admission is reserved and is subject to this code of conduct, liquor licensing laws and the terms and conditions agreed to at time of purchase.
Responsible Service of Alcohol legislation applies to all patrons and ticket holders.
You may have your bag checked upon entry to the venue by one of our licensed security guards. Prohibited items include but are not limited to: alcohol, textas, paint and/or similar items, glass, plastic bottles, weapons.
We ask that all attendees please leave the premises quietly to avoid disturbing our local residents.
No smoking or vaping is permitted within the venue. There is a designated smoking area on level one.
Professional audio and video recording equipment is not permitted. All media requests are at the discretion of the promoter.
The building is outfitted with CCTV devices and by entering you consent to being filmed by our systems.
